Upcoming Album Drops from Rap Greats

Nothing seems to excite music fans more than rumors of new music from an artist who has already secured their legacy.

Eminem and 50 Cent were at the height of their music careers over a decade ago. Time changes nothing according to their fans, who always look forward to new music by them.

Eminem, who hasn’t released a project since his 2013 Marshall Mathers LP 2, has new music coming soon—according to a tweet he posted after he released Campaign Speech in 2016.

More recently, 2 Chainz has talked about working with Eminem on the new album and how much of an honor it was to work with one of the greatest rappers of all time, in an interview with DJ Drama. You can see the full interview below.

50 Cent, another former Interscope artist, is also supposed to be dropping a new album at the end of this year. His fifth studio album Street King Immortal, was supposed to come out some time in 2012, but problems with his label at the time stopped him from doing so. If he is telling the truth, you can expect it to come out around November. 50 has said of the album that it’s “not as smart” as Jay Z’s 4:44, but it will be music that people can have fun to.

One simply cannot bring up record label issues without mentioning Lil Wayne, who has had fans waiting for the release of Tha Carter V since 2015. His relationship with Birdman and Young Money has been up and down (mostly down) for the past few years. He even sued the label in 2015.

Earlier this year, Wayne announced at a show in Pennsylvania that he is now a member of Roc Nation. Though similar deals have fell through in the past, hopefully this is a sign of things to come if he is serious.

Last, but most definitely not least, Drake decided to get fans ready for a new project when he released More Life earlier this year. This is hinted at on the last song of the playlist “Do Not Disturb” where he raps “Maybe gettin’ back to my regular life will humble me / I’ll be back in 2018 to give you the summary.” Another thing you might get from those lyrics is that his next album could be his last. While fans simply cannot wait for new music by him, it will definitely be a bittersweet feeling to hear his very last work.

After 8 straight years of having a song in the Billboard Top 100 every week, we might be seeing Drake’s reign come to an end, but he will without a doubt go down as one of the best to ever pick up a microphone.
